lotus eater

lotus eater

A Poem by Will Graham
"

based on the lotus eaters from Homer's Odessey

"
my breath stinks of perfume
my tongue dyed purple and
the remnants of leaves in my nail beds.

the real world is too loud
too cruel
too feeling
give me something
to help me
escape

to wonder about color
to dream softly

(sleep?
perchance, to dream?)

(is that how it goes?)

(one does not recall.)

i run my fingers through my hair
And blonde strands come away lazily
woven through my digits

(i could have sworn my hair was dark.)

my mind is too loud.
the silence is comforting.

comfort.
it is all i live for.
all i crave.
all i deserve.

please. another blossom.
to sooth my tongue.

(and dull my mind.)

Yes Will. You have portrayed poetically a mind in turmoil. I feel you should remove the doubts, question marks and so on that you have peppered this piece with and boldly go where your thoughts lead. There are lots of witty touches on here.
Regards.
