Two-am sweater

Just having a little fun

She played in her two-am sweater,

wore gold in the palm of her hand

Thought life couldn’t be any better,

her sisters just don’t understand

 

Sang choruses stitched out in leather,

encrusted with jewels in her style

Her hair flowed of September weather,

October awaited her smile

 

Beneath every heaven so smitten,

now dancing away with the sun

In phrases on stardust she’s written,

just her way of having some fun

 

For she is an everyday dreamer,

her heart just a part of the rhyme

This modern day fashioned moonbeamer,

a woman ahead of her time

Did not know they make time appropriate sweaters. Of course, it's been a while since I was out and around at 2 AM. The lady of this well rhymed offering seems like a real good time girl, loves to sing and dance, puzzles her more straight laced sisters. She also has quite a wardrobe. Damn it, where was she fifty years ago?

I see You said "fun" but this touches me with sadness and loneliness, I also don't know who she is, but for me she is like a fairy who drift swiftly into your imagination and heart, touched You with her own stardust and made You write about her, for her, because she has no voice. moving, heartfelt and sentimental one my friend. specially the last line hits me.

A woman such as the one described is a dreamer and also very wise. She loves life and celebrates all its moments. The earth and the sun are captivated by her and all the seasons dance for her. This is a beautiful poem, in words, in flow and meter. Kudos Willweb!

Well now I want to know who she was? Is? I hate it when a poet doesn't leave notes about their inspiration. You said earlier you aren't counting syllables. This is 9/8/9/8. You can't tell me that is unintentional. That would be pretty amazing if your brain creates patterns unconsciously. Subconsciously. I like the variety in your poetic energy. And I really like poetry that rhymes and counts and completes. Almost sounded like you were writing about lightsong in this.

Ok, let me answer your questions the best I can. I truly have no idea who she is. Somehow the phrase Two-am Sweater came into my mind and said write me, so I built a poetic story around the thought. Though if I was forced to reveal an identity I would say, she is a collage of many women I know and have known in my life. As for counting, I promise I do not intentionally count but I do like my words (when rhyming and in free verse at times) to feel good as they are read. I want the reader to be able to read a rhyming poem and lose track of the fact that it rhymes. I can tell you that I am not very amazing, but I have always seen things in patterns and can hear a melody in just about anything. Kind of weird, I know.

That's not weird at all. I guess it could be called an innate poetic ability. Interesting, not weird. Amazing ... well willweb, I've got a lot of you to read yet. If I may, I'll be the one to determine that. My friend here Gouwnie said you touch her poetic soul. If you are able to touch our souls, our funnybones and hearts, I believe that qualifies as amazing. But then the 300+ poems I haven't read yet might be s**t. We'll see willweb.
