Lost in the madness (that always is you)

Lost in the madness (that always is you)

A Poem by willweb

Nightmare acrylics in lipstick stain passions

Blush on the fingers as mist falls the ground

Silhouettes linger in street shadow fashions

Nowhere is everywhere, you can be found

Gripping these sheets as the echoes are haunting

Calling the moon every name in the book

Hearing your voice, in my head loudly taunting

Beyond the glass it is so hard to look

Angst lends a tear, as if I might need any

Tissues fall stained of the puddles that seep

Hours now counted, like minutes, too many

Endless, the thoughts fill the sorrows I keep

Trying to stand but the weight leaves me bending

Exhaling breath when I barely can breathe

Needle and thread, here’s my flesh, start the mending

Truth, now a lie if that’s all you believe

Steady I run as the alleyway crumbles

Cobblestone darkness, my fears come to chase

Once this was life, now a staircase of stumbles

Memories etched that I cannot replace

So here I lie with my eyes to the ceiling

Outlines of yesterdays, my only view

Midnight confessions, an uneasy feeling

Lost in the madness that always is you

This poem was inspired by the song attached. Jill Tracy's Haunted by the thought of you.
The version I posted is only the instrumental version. It seemed the lyrics made reading the poem confusing. So here is a link to the song with lyrics if you are interested. I hope you like it.

Lying on the bed haunted by the existence of a lover, lost in the past, makes for many sleepless nights. For me personally, it has always been about someone from afar, untouchable and out of reach. Looking back on past loves just hurts the heart and soul as your verses have eloquently conveyed. Another well described piece of rhyming verse, Willweb.

Thanks so very much my friend. I am happy you enjoyed this today.
Such a chilling accouterment to the instability and mania that feeds depression and the pain of loss. A most engaging read, Will!

Thank you Kelly, I appreciate you stopping by.
I checked out the YouTube link you shared and loved it. The poems does absolute justice to it with its dark, haunting imagery conveying feelings of loss and depression. The poet looks for a loved one in a myriad of places and in the darkness curses the moon. The poem also made me think of the clinical depression that follows bereavement. It's a madness one truly and genuinely feels and that's so sad. It was an awesome read.

Heartache..I can relate to this. The grief after some kind of loss weighs heavy. Your poem shows how painful it can be brilliantly. I like the song too. A well written gripping poem.

My pleasure.. :)
We've all been here, looking at the ceiling but seeing something else, often beside one who they think will make them feel better. Nothing like a "warm body" to clarify it's just not the same...anyone who has truly loved and lost knows. The music is the perfect accouterment for this work of art.

Reminds me of at least 2 of my ex-s WW - eventually you just have to quit to save your own sanity. Excellent Work ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

the poem reminds me of one love I had....all these thoughts and moods combined as she
displayed them, and I absorbed them...and just didn't know which side of the bed upon which to wake.
Yesterdays were a constant topic but tomorrows a dead end.
really excellent poem...I didn't play the song...rather have my own influences when reading.
ah, a good one to stir my old imagination...

I love the music that you chose to go with this piece. The poem is haunted, a bit dark throughout, and rife with the discomfort of memories of a lost love. It's a shadow that always lingers. Beautiful!
