The Heart of Love

 What new words can I use, what new things can I say,

To show you that my love for you, is yours on every day?

What can be said for so many years of living and loving you?

Expressing these thoughts of love will show it to be true.

 

I see you each morning, as you rise up and prepare,

Yourself for the days’ challenges and tasks that you must bear.

I know of your love for it is reflected, in all that you do for me,

The smallest detail is never at loss for I know I always see.

 

I see you when lay down at night, to rest from your daily chores.

But it’s not in my bed, but in my heart, that you will rest forever more.

I notice every nuance, every furrowed brow upon your face,

It tells me when you’re sad or worried and need warm embrace.

 

I thank God for the day that I met you and feel blessed that you loved me.

And for all these years together, to my heart you’ve had the key.

I know you know I love you, and I know you love me too,

I need no special day like Valentine, for my love to shine through!

 

So I hope these thoughts will sink in, these words will find their mark,

They’re much like Cupid’s arrow, aimed directly at your heart.

Let them flow into your soul, let them settle in your mind,

And know this day and evermore, you are my Valentine!
