Sunset lovers

Sunset lovers

A Poem by

They sat by the quietly flowing river;
coming from the east to west,
and saw the sun's reflection shiver;
dancing on each ripple's crest.

They decided to sit apart;
lest someone discovers,
their being lovers from the heart;
not mere sunset lovers.

Neither he spoke and nor did she
and feelings they did smother,
but with the dusk they silently
came closer to each other.

And finally when the sun retreated
and the darkness grew
The lovers were reunited
hidden from the view.
