Back in my memory, I watch that movie

We both so loved on that summer night

I still have that striped shirt I was wearing

It’s getting eaten by the moths right now.

The only thing that not got eaten yet,

Is my memory of time, long ago.

When I’m old and probably forgotten,

I hope to see back my memory

Like a movie fragment of my own,

And that I wear that striped shirt again,

With holes, and not based on lost memories

But on a favorite loved summer night…

This is classic, my dearest and I loved it. You delivered the poem with elegance and certainty. I liked your choice of words here because they are spontaneous they made the lines flow smoothly while keeping the thought intact. I especially liked the photograph because it went well with the theme of the poem:) Brilliant work once again, dear! I'm going to favorite this.

Laura you always have such a tender phrasing, it's just sweetness personified, like:

'It’s getting eaten by the moths right now"

You manage to make the cliche just so innocently easy.

Clothing, remembering what we wore, like that old song...everytime I hear it I think of you. Each time I go to disgard this old shirt I pause, remember that night and place it gently back upon its hangar...forever of that night, your scent a faint linger but your touch I shall never forget. Elisa, again your words touch me and fill me with sweet emotions...it is as if you allow me to dream, while I am wide awake.

Some of my favorite memories are folded within my drawers...tattered, old, and worn... but I cherish them nevertheless.
You bring forth a lovely moment!...for me movies are an enchanting place to get lost into...sometimes I wish I were there forever! lol
ahhhhh Memories! Love this work of art Sis! ~xoxo~ :)

Why do we keep those shirts? I'm not sure if this was more about how we hold on to memories and how they thin and fade. Soon they are full of holes that render the thought irrelevant to living. How can such a wonderful night that felt the power of transforming awakenings become such a frail ghost on a hanger in the closet?
I felt like this was a call to live each moment as full as the cup can flow. Tomorrow, all we will know is the lipstick smudges upopn the rim and the pooling stains of drying wine.
Wonderful write. Loved the song.

Thankies for all Holly :)
Both film and memory fade with time. It's up to us to replay them over and over again, to keep them alive... and beautiful...

You paint vivid pictures my friend :) I feel like I know this person well, and feel for her, even though you only present one memory...I would never have the words to turn a lament into a daydream like this...you rescue her from total sadness with a sense of innocence :) Well done Elisa *hugs* :)
