I just cant write poetry!

The title says it all. Here is a small demonstration...

 Feelings and emotions,

Happiness and glee.

The epitome of what makes a person write,

What they think is poetry.

 

From the images of a blue rose in the snow,

To the joy of a monsoon sky.

Are some of the things poets write,

Make readers imagine as their eyes pass by.

 

But what I think makes sheer poetry,

Is when some one writes from the heart and soul.

From the depth of what they have and feel,

From a deeper extent of what is real.

 

But my words just don’t rhyme,

And the meanings just don’t match.

I just cross out the lines,

And begin once again from scratch.

 

I just don’t have the depth,

The feelings to hold true.

The passion of something I truly love,

Be it red, white or topaz blue.

 

The words just don’t make sense,

And I have no intensity desired.

My poetry is just meaningless,

And I am really getting tired!

 

I shall stick on to the stories I write,

And leave this world of couplets and rhyme.

For I don’t have the passion, feeling or might,

Nothing wanted, or nothing truly mine.

 

Now take this as an example,

I bet you all can see.

That no matter how hard I really try,

I just CANT write poetry!

Oh I think I disagree with you..I dont think there is a difference between poetry and writing stories..
I think a real talented story writer who want his stories to shake the reader ,he has to be a poet to write stories
They all ask for imagination and lots of feelings,and dreaming of what you write..what you write,stories or poetry
should be dreamy full of images and thoughts..images that will take us far,will shut us out of the world around us
for a while,a while a space in time that could not count by the minutes..you are just lost in time and space
when you are writing poetry or stories..you could not tell where you are..you are so detached from real life or the world around you
if you could feel that while writing ,then you are a poet and writing poetry,no mater if what you are writing was a story
or the thing that they call poetry..its a special feeling ,a special state of mind,when you write..you could feel it
What you wrote here was poetry..and I loved it..

this is poetry! i think you are thinking you can't write confessional poetry... there are many famous poets who write about how things are and what that means to the rest of the world. those who form a creative view of the world are poets... it seems to me you CAN do it. don't be too hard on yourself. I find that If i hadn't have made so many choices and mistakes in my life causing me to feel emotional extremes i wouldn't have adang thing to write about so you COULD consider yourself lucky.... to have a head on your shoulders who is happy with the life you have and who you are!

A true poet never "writes" poetry, but feels it and then interprets that feeling into words on paper. Don't know if that makes sense or not, but it is the truth within.

As for the piece you wrote, I thought you did a great job with it. :)
