Valentine's Day

A poem I wrote this past Valentine's day at school.

 A long cold walk

Is preferred to this

I hear them all talk

In their angering bliss

 

On this "day of love"

I seem to be cursed

Teddy bears, hearts and doves

Just make it all worse

 

I'm always alone

On this "wonderful" day

Left to grumble and groan

While no love comes my way

 

I hate it, I hate it

I hate this day, yes

No matter what happens

It's always a mess

 

"Valentine"s, for me

Don't seem to exist

The only red I get

Is from the wall to my fist

 

No candy, no cards

No, i'm just set apart

Left to pick up the shards

Of this times-broken heart

 

I don't care what it takes

I don't care what the cost

I want someone for me

To no longer be lost

 

Someone to have

Someone to hold

Someone to be mine

And save me from the cold

 

The darkness is here

Obstructing the light

it doubles my fear

It takes my will to fight

 

It swallows me whole

No chance to say bye

Falling forever more

With no strong wings to fly
