These days, everything is a lie. Everything up to and including an individual's name can be changed at will. The only part of a person that can't be changed on a whim is their NODE, a biomechanical identification transmitter implanted at birth. These “node”s are the only means of regulating a society that has broken the boundaries set by their ancestors. Boundaries such as certain physical limitations -the need for sleep; the need to rest after becoming fatigued amongst other things-, telepathic communication, over-developed technology that can create and destroy matter at will, and other former “impossibilities.” Though any of these used for personal gain requires the approval of a... certain company. After all is said and done, reality has become more game-like than most of the games floating around out there from a time long-since past. But every game has someone pulling the strings, and this “game” is no different.
