Insomnia

Insomnia

A Poem by Evie

Late at night
Stare at the ceiling
Silence is the feeling
Thoughts start breathing
Mind unreeling
They play out on paper in a mess
The only way I can handle this
This reality stuck inside
With pen on paper thoughts subside
Become a rhyme
Stop time
Deletes the lies that say "I'm fine"
This is how it becomes okay
These are the words that save the day
How can I be tired with so much to say?
Life and dreams collide
Common sense just now died
I'll lose my pride
For the sake of writing down what's inside
Things I hide from myself
I begin to realize
And see the eyes of a girl set aside...
