City of Ashes

City of Ashes

A Poem by Blossom
"

Came to me after I finished reading a book

"
As the city burns
the ashes rise,
the wings of the holy angel
are covered in grime
the demons roam about
thier sins atoned
Who in God's name forgave them?
of the laws they broke
the angel so pure
fight' for its home
demons have over run
what was once he called home
the fire it crackles
laughing at the tears
the city that once glowed
 now reduced to bones
is nothing but ashes
in this place we call home

Darkly portaryed but nice and love the title and the pic for it as to imagine the ashes falling from above.

This is really nice! It reminds me of a series of books called the Mortal Instruments, where each book is named something like "City of Ashes" or "City of Bones". My personal favorite part was probably 'the fire it crackles, laughing at the tears'. What hauntingly powerful imagery!

All your poems are so dark and deep. I really like them. Good job.
