Leave With Your Dignity Intact

Not A Five Poetry

It takes years to know someone deeply, 

But it takes guts to keep the real them.

Some relationships don't work.

No matter how you tried to stay in peace with them. 

Then each of one's life suddenly changed.

Noticing that it started to rot. 

Not knowing that the other person had already left.

Unfortunately, life isn't fair. 

In this lifetime we choose friends so easily,

We tagged them along and learned that they are fine.

And just decide from there "Oh! We can be best friends!"

I do believe that best friends do last. 

Because I've seen it with my own eyes and also experiencing it.

Even from afar, because of sharing the same feeling and thoughts.

This kind of friendship does go on.

But not all friendships or relationships are successful.

When that time comes be prepared 

To leave with your dignity intact.

In the end, you only have yourself to worry about

I have never been one who would beg another person to be in my life. If people don't wanna be, they just don't wanna be, period. If you drag them back using guilt or whatever, you'll both go on to do destructive things to one another becuz of the chafe of a wrong fit. Usually I do not like to see someone write an essay telling people how to live, something that may unfold differently for different people. You give good advice. Like barelygirl, I've never tried to hold onto a relationship when it was obviously doomed. Many do, though, and I wish them luck. Indeed, life isn't fair, so if you end up with a sour lemon, it's best to throw it at someone. (I'm kidding)
On the subject of real, lifelong friends--they are invaluable.
