Hollow Compassion

Hollow Compassion

A Poem by Lindon Slater

The words you speak
are but a projection of loneliness
If this way it continues
we will forever be distant

One blindly following another
chases regret to their end
only then may they see
truth is difficult to gain

As time drags us along its humble path
change is bound to occur within
The words of today--do you truly mean them?
Or do they project your longing?

Shall we toil with others?
Even as though it should not be
it may as well be in the end

In this imperfect world
many coat the meaningful truth
in false hope all is well
but what is to wait for?
