Epiphany

Epiphany

A Poem by Yheela

Last night,
sticking my head out the window,
smelling the summer night
I came to thinking of you.

Now,
looking back,
I can’t remember why it all had to end.
What was it that made us say goodbye,
turn our backs
and never look back.

All I have is this dull pain,
clinging to almost every memory I have
when it comes to us.

Sometimes I think I remember
not being able to breathe,
your arms wrapped tightly around me,
not being able to think,
your smile clouding my mind,
not feeling my heart beating
unless your lips were crushing mine.

Was it all too much,
was it I who could not handle it all,
was it you that burned too brightly.

The pain feels fresh,
breathing in all the scents of the summer night
I realize I’m still bleeding.

I am stunned. You express emotion that many of us have experienced and hence we relate to the wonderful way you portray them. Well done and thank you!

Thank You for saying such nice things. ^_^
Yikes, this sure does pack a punch to the gut of the emotional self. I've felt like that a great many times.

And still we go back to that place ...
