Ravens

Ravens

A Poem by Yheela
"

Viking

"
The sky was a clear Autumn blue
As three ravens overhead flew
My eyes followed the arc of their glistening black wing
And I heard the song that they always sing

The forest, fields, sky and wherever
Everything that may ones be
Is Odin's to rule forever and ever
And for us to oversee

They cawed and fluttered
Not one more sound they uttered.
Two veering left and one flew right
I tried to keep them all in my sight

They must be off to Odin no doubt
To tell him of what the humans are about
I send along the Rainbow Bridge a prayer
Hoping to avoid the one-eyed gods all-knowing stare

Not my favourite piece of yours. The intent is great, the scene setting feels natural and expressive. I think the word 'Wearing' in the third stanza must be a typo? Did you mean bearing? The final line of that stanza might meter better without the word 'my'? Liked it still!

Thank you!
Very descriptive! The few Norse myths I've read are among my favorite stories because the gods were so different from the Greek gods. I also love Greek mythology, but Norse mythology has a lot of awesome to it and I think that I enjoy it a bit more than Greek mythology because it's something new.

To me there isn't much that tops Norse Mythology. But then I might be bias ... ^_^

(^_^)/ Thank you!
I like the content of this poem, and the reference to Odin! The rhythm's good, following the ravens' flight :)

Thank you, glad you like it! ^_^
very Viking....You would understand this more than I...I loved the way it had two voices, it's difficult to get that right, and I envy you your folk lore...you have done it proud
