There Lies the Queen

There Lies the Queen

A Poem by Vicky Zhuang Yi-Yin
"

Defeat of the horrible queen...

"

There lies the queen

The queen smothered in blood

She trembles in fear

In fear of defeat, in fear of death

She is the queen, the queen of all sins

Her crimes are many, her kindness was none

She dies today, her kingdom rejoices

Arising from the gloomy ashes

She killed a thousand girls for her glory

To keep her youth and her flawless beauty

She killed a thousand men for her own lust

For each who feared her, she thought it was must

There lies the queen

The queen smothered in blood

Trepidation builds as the reaper appears

The end to her reign was her greatest of fears

A thousand virgins bled for her fury

It quenched her thirst, it quenched her envy

Gallons of blood poured during her reign

Feeding her, bathing her with more and more greed

Slowly and slowly, her life fades away

Her true love arrives, the reaper is here

He wraps his arms around her, the warmest she has felt

She lazily smiles, as he recites her crimes

“I have no regrets, I have no remorse

Take me away; I’ll be back for sure

The blood in this land immortalized me

I swear to this land, this is not the last of me…”

There lies the queen

The queen smothered in blood

Her eyes are lifeless, she breathes no more

There lies the queen all dead and gone…

. for me as a reader ... you express ... with a serious seriousness ... the inevitability of the end ... if you think about it ... think about all the people we know who cause harm intentionally ... even they ... do not live forever ... the end can't be dodged ... even by the most skilled and powerful ... a powerful poem ... with a powerful underlying thought ...

Amazing! I didn't see the 6th stanza coming! Goes to show everyone needs a little love. And it made me think of her motivation...she did she do it for her vanity and wanton greed/lust or did she do it to unite with her love, the Reaper. I love, love dark writings and this satisfied that for me. Thanks!

Oh, so eerie and haunting. At first I thought perhaps the queen was good. But then you hear what she did and it's like you want her to die, to not survive. Good flow, great story within a poem. I love your writing, it's very dark.

It captures the reader's attention...Queens are usually described as fair...sweet..gentle...this is otherwise....extremely well written...fantastic work

a dark and captivating deeply disturbing unfairy tale ~ like with Coyote it brought to mind the bloody tale of Countess Elizabeth Bathory who used to bathe in the blood of virgins to maintain her youth~
excellent haunting chill you've created throughout the poem~ maintining a heightened level of eerie fixation~ well done!

queen elizabeth bathory captured with all her evil intention, hidden
agendas, horrifying behavior, this is the best poem i've read on her,
and there are a few, but you capture the passion with this poem, magnificent

It's a lot similar to the story of Queen Mary. Legend has it that she used to bath in people's blood to retain her youth and beauty.

They was a Queen in history. She killed virgins girls and bath in blood. She is one of the reasons for the Vampire myth. Your story remind me of her story. Almost the same as her terrible reign as the Queen. A very good story. Thank you.
