Fools In A Daze

Fools In A Daze

A Poem by Young Mountain
"

The 7th short in the series "Behind The Empty Curtain".

"

The signs are pointed towards the exit here
but the choice today remains a haze;
stalled in the presence of the burning sun
what really have you been told
because you're headed for a collision; a beautiful date with a wrecking ball.

Will that promise of tomorrow always be a lie
and will you catch her when the parachute is gone
the kind words won't make up for the mistakes
but the fool in you believes
but you're headed for a collision; a beautiful date with a wrecking ball.

and just like a thief in the night all will be lost,
didn't you know that she wanted to be loved to.
or did you sleep walk through the conversation and day dream about tomorrow
watching & waiting,
watching & waiting,
watching & waiting.

But she's already looking ahead to a place that holds one,
and you're headed for that collision; a beautiful date with a wrecking ball.
