I Am a Book

I Am a Book

A Poem by Zare

I am a book

My pages ripped and torn

I have been passed

From hand to hand

Stored in boxes for yard sales

Sitting on a teachers shelf

Chubby, grimy little hands

Folding my corners to mark their pages

I am a book

My pages ripped and torn

My pages ripped and torn...

I really like the metaphor and concept behind this.

I enjoyed this piece, as its form & subject was something we all cherish. Books take a beaten, and can be weathered-down, but there's nothing like grabbing a book, and a warm blanket.... :)

I love this poem! And the interesting perspective it is told from.

I love books, and it's sad to feel a book treated this way...
