A Mask Of Air And Shadow

A Mask Of Air And Shadow

A Poem by Zoe Richardson
"

In the face of abuse you let go of grand hopes and cling to simple steps forward.

"

A Mask Of Air And Shadow

The sky turned dark

The first time I wrote

To you filling my vision

With the promise of stars

In between the earth and

Sky we danced til falling

Made us breathless and

We loved between the

Shadows of the afternoon

If I was a better person

Stronger somehow

More gentle or beguiling

I could find my way into

Your prayers and hold you with

A faith that precedes me

But I am but a storm tossed sinner

It is said that grace is

Unmerited favor unearned and

Undeserved   and that with

Salvation we can touch

The face of God

But I would rather

Sit in a quiet place

And touch your hand

While the rain washes

The window clean of

Our imagined wrongs

And when awakened find

That truth has saved us both

This was a very good poem Zoe, which I enjoyed reading. It had a very personal nature to it which many can identify with and see themselves within. Thank you for sharing this work of yours.
