The Moth And The Flame

The Moth And The Flame

A Poem by Zoe Richardson
"

When you meet someone you fear will wreck your heart

"

The Moth and the Flame

I do not think you know how deeply

You have intruded into my soul

It is my fault

I knew you were dangerous

I should not have invited you here

Because you care so completely

It is easy to lose track of where I am

I know you understand

How could you not

But how could I let it go this far?

I’ve been a fool

Like all the rest

Irresistibly drawn to your light

When I should have listened to my past

I am not afraid of what you will do to me now

I am more afraid of what I will do to myself

After you’re gone

Yes, we can be our own worse enemy when it comes to love. I have known people completely destroyed by it, not prepared to risk it again. Love the title. The moth is always drawn to the flame. Like magnetic attraction.

I went through a stage like this for twenty years, sabotaging relationships because of the expectations
