nam kills

nam kills

A Poem by Aandon F.

He closed his eyes,

Some of them were afraid,

He was pretending he was a boy again.

The twenty-six men were very quiet,

Some were excited,

He pretended he wasn’t a soldier.

Already the Southern Cross was out,

He followed the shadow of the man,

His boots made sleepy, sloshing sounds,

Wading through the paddy.

He tried not to think,

He would never let on how frightened he had been,

The moon came out,

The helmet was heavy on his head.

Excellent read and write. Yes, Nam killed a lot of good soldiers and left some badly wounded. Glad my father is still alive, he served in the Airforce.
