III. Decor

A Chapter by Abdul Aziz

III. Decor
I stood in silence, and in awe
Beside the becalmed brook
She grew in beauty, quietly so
With every step she took;
And gave me back my aching life
With every furtive look.

With steely mind and shaking heart
I waited as she came;
She smiled the greatest smile I've seen,
As naught a dame can claim;
The earth laid grass for Summer's tread,
For Summer was her name.

Ah! How can I describe her ways
By poetry or prose?
And how can I describe her eyes,
The shyness in her brows!
For blessed she was with everything,
And all that God bestows.
