China Doll.

I can be your China Doll.

Paint my skin with shades of brilliance, color a rainbow on my face.
Cherry-red lips, pursed and ribbon-like are brought to life by your solid faith.
Name me, raise me, according to your own beliefs.
Anything to see a smile reach your eyes instead of the tears they so commonly leak.

I can be your China Doll.

Whisper to me the deepest consolidations of your soul, in the midst of the night.
Tell me who you love and the lands you wish to roam.
Rest assured that wherever fate leads you, I am your pocket-sized home.

I can be your China Doll.

Braid my hair, draw teardrops like crystals down my porcelein face.
Throw me against the wall when your fingers itch for something to break.
Collect the shards afterwards, for I know you’ll spend nights wide awake.
Cursing under your breath as you struggle to put me back in shape.

I can be your China Doll.

Placed safely on the top shelf, I’ll collect dust, watch you grow
Reminisce on the days I was the mate of your soul
My head tilted to the side, frozen eyes forever transfixed on you
Glass fingers, glass feet but this glass heart was shared by two

Now my time has passed, golden days are through
The crack down my chest is all that remains of you.
For you’ve found another China Doll, face almost as cherubic as mine
But she has blood and veins, can laugh and cry.
Together you bring a third so you have two of your own
And they can answer you in ways I never could

With the two of them, there will be no more deafening silence, the likes of which you shared with me.

But I can be your China Doll if you ever feel that you need three.
