Meaningful Gestures

Meaningful Gestures

A Poem by Aly Mendoza

When I don’t smile, it does not mean that I don’t want acquaintances.

It means that I’m resting my facial muscles, so I wear my poker face again.

When I don’t talk, it does not mean that I don’t want any conversations.

It means that I fell deep down my well of thoughts and somehow I can’t get out from it.

When I did not see you, it does not mean that I did not really see you.

It means that I don't really want to show you any sign of recognition because at most times I do recognize people.

When I did not say hi, it does not mean that I am a snob.

It means that I am secretly having a crush on you and I am afraid to have a deep relationship with you which I know would just lead us to nowhere. </3

But of course, there are exceptions. J
