A Poem by Addison

you'll never see the sadness
stained in her eyes
or the way she denounces
her beauty in the mirror.
you'll never see the bruises
burnt into her skin
or the scars on her heart
from the words of blame.
you'll never see the pain in her eyes
after she forgives -again-
or the way she yearns to be put first-
loved, and cherished.
you'll never see how hard she tries
to see a smile on every face
or the way she genuinely sees beauty
in the darkest of places.
you'll never know how she used to be-
beaten down, worthless
or how hard it was to escape
and find herself.

This a beautiful expression of walking through the darkness. Looking in the mirror and seeing the darkness within was expressed with such vivid emotion and painted a picture within. It was a great reflection of what a lot of people, myself included, who either have low self-esteem, have been bullied and/or abused. Well done. Thank you for sharing and please return the favor by reviewing one of my pieces.
