I AM SORRY

I AM SORRY

A Poem by afra

I am sorry for not being the person you wanted me to be

Sorry for letting you down and following my dreams

Sorry for not being the daughter you expected me to be

Sorry for letting all your hopes torn

I know your lives much be much better if I was not born

But I always want you to take a walk in my shoes

Then you'll realize what I go through

This is a poem that portrays the guilt of sometimes
feeling like you're a burden, even to your loved ones.
They may not think you're a burden
but sometimes you just feel useless and hopeless.

But then you realise that perhaps
you're misunderstood.
And you set out to express your feelings to the world.
You let the world know what you feel.
You ask the world to come and walk in your shoes.

You also realize that self-pity won't get you nowhere.
So you embrace yourself in every way:
You embrace your physical beauty.
You appreciate the simple beauty of life.
And suddenly you're constantly inspired by almost anything.
Then you embrace and cherish your creative abilities.
You communicate your feelings with pen and paper.
And you refuse to ever bring yourself to think low of yourself ever again.

BECAUSE YOU ARE A VOICE THE WORLD NEEDS TO HEAR.
YOU ARE JUST AS IMPORTANT AS THE NEXT PERSON.
YOU TOO CAN CHANGE THE WORLD.

This is a sad theme, but you seem come through it with your head up. That's a difficult thing to do and apparently you have a very good head on your shoulders. I think sadly, that there are many who would relate to this poem.

Just a couple of suggestion,

"Sorry for letting all your hopes (be) torn" -

"I know your lives much be much better if I was not born" -
perhaps "I know your lives would be much better if I hadn't been born"

short sweet and to the point

Amazing short poem, great pathos, incisive words, it looks like a "female" version of Perfect by Simple Plan.
PS: Never feel like that for anyone !! You're more important than you think !

It is a two way street. Understanding of adult and child take years and patience. I like the story and the desire of the poem.
"But I always want you to take a walk in my shoes
Then you'll realize what I go through "
Thank you for the excellent poetry.

i feel this all the time, now just sometimes
i just think that were never alone in this world
even though you never reach the expectation what they want
even thought sometime they get disappointed in you
against all odds they really do love you.
and i think sorry is just enough to go through

short but meaningful. The poem speaks how much it needs to. Very well done, I like the emotion.

powerful stuff, just make sure you pay attention to grammar and spelling because the "your lives much be much better" part threw me off for a sec. Other than that very nice.

this is a powerful poem, and i like the stages of it. at first you seem to feel guilt, then you state that you go though so much, and that you wish they would understand that you have a diffucult life. but im glad you are following your dreams. do what makes YOU proud. do what YOU need to do becuase it is your life. respect your parents wishes, but dont let them rule your whole life. anyway, great write!
