Through the Blinking Red Light

Through the Blinking Red Light

A Poem by Gonce

At the bottom
of this hill I drive on
quite often there is an
intersecting street with a
stop light to keep people safe.
On some nights I start to head down the
hill and I stare at the pole,
with my foot touching the brake,
and I watch that pole all the way down
down,
          down,
thinking to myself if it would be in
her best interest for me to
stop
