What does it Mean when Seen on a Screen?

Merely a photograph on a screen,

not even a piece of paper that can be held,

gently, or even gripped with passion, kissed.

Yet I gaze and say: Yes, it belongs,

belongs in my eyes, heart, brain.

I see now the place that I haven't seen for five long years.

Will I go back? Sniff, gaze again

at the actuality, not a piece of light

on a screen, not even that piece of paper?

I’m sure many will find this poem relatable. Screen shots have replaced the old photographs we used to keep in albums. I liked the sentiment conveyed in these lines Andrew. The third stanza asks the questions. Only you hold the answers. Happy Sunday.

The ever present social media have taken the place of face to face interaction to a great extent. We see pictures of places that were meaningful to us in the past. Perhaps that has caused us to lose touch.
