Pain or Pleasure?

Pain or Pleasure?

A Poem by Andrew John
"

Freeverse

"
When they took him there
did you hear what they did?
Was there call or grunt?
Laugh or scream?
Joy or lamentation?

We perform the strangest or most grotesque
of auditory communications.
Such a mixed bag, such a miscellany!
Torture or tickle? Titillation or skin sensation?
Can we choose to hear pain or pleasure?

I don't think we can choose to hear either... unless we cover our ears...i think we must hear both, as these sounds are part of life...and we must know a certain mood, either joyous or sad...we are connected human beings...and hearing and listening is part of our makeup....
Well done....
Warmly, B
