Babel

Babel

A Poem by Andrew John
"

Freeverse

"
Do you believe in faith,
enough to have faith in your belief?
Do you know enough to know
that you do not know sufficient?

Do you listen or merely talk?
Are there really several radios on the table -
all saying different things?
Like you, from Babel?

Do you wish they would listen
and not babble brashly, brazenly?
You’re one of a couple?
Does the other one merely hear you?

Do you close your ears
but open your mouth?
A confusion of voices?
What a discombobulation!

Nice one, JtB. Thanks.
Dear Andrew. I love this poem. It sums up lack of communication brilliantly. I did a piece recently called Say what you mean, mean what you say. Some people have a habit of talking in riddles. You never get clarification. You never get the answers. Hope you are keeping well.

We are always searching to know the truth, and each of us hears a different truth knowing there are things we do not understand..

Thanks for your comment, SA. I may have heard Babel-type poems before - but, hey . . .!
Yes, too often but to err is human. Perhaps. There is a tendency to overdo most things in this grabbing, ever-hungry world of ours. Speak out or be crushed, perhaps? There's skill needed to learn how much or little to behave like a human than a robot.

Surprised you had ten views but not a one to join in a very worthy debate. Happy everything.
