Secondarily Prophets

Secondarily Prophets

A Poem by AK
"

The photo features my best buddy Knik taking a bit of a break. We were helping to build the first of three remarkable log churches in Soldotna, Alaska, circa 1977. Knik's gone now, but the church is still very much alive! Click the link next to my avatar.

"

Secondarily prophets
go where angels fear to tread
In the footsteps of Apostles
with a gospel light to shed

Seeking those with earnest hunger
beyond vanity and pride
Do you want the simple truth at last
to fill that empty spot inside?

Generations have diluted
with interpretation and consent
The purity of the message
Peter preached each place he went

There was no mystery or confusion
no “denominations” way back then
If you wanted God come morning
you’d be filled by long-day’s end.

But now we’re taught to “just accept”
“you don’t need what they received”…
The power that filled the Book of Acts?
“Nah… now we just “believe”

Well, from one who’s felt the hand of God
and the power in His name
If you receive the Holy Ghost
you will never be the same.

I know it’s preached that that’s “too much”
“It was just for those back then”
But there is no scripture that shelf-lifes God
He doesn’t care about the “when”

So If you wish to find your role
and if you truly care
Ask to see with opened eyes
and then just be prepared

“Prepared for what” you well might ask
what should I expect to see?
Will I behave as I fear I must…
like those Christians on TV?”

No! And again, no, once more
but do expect a change
And when that empty spot is filled
think it, my friend, not strange

this is brilliant. This is deep beyond bones. I needed it today. Thank you for sharing your immense talent with us. the true courage is always good, and it is possible to see things different. Perhaps because you live in this rough beauty of Alaska where winters are so long.. and where the life is like perhaps always has been... the nature the green and all flora / fauna.. I adore it.

taking a walk through words and I am as always so impressed with the life you walked, the words you spoke, the heart you shared

I know that the members of your family and your brothers and sisters from your church family will miss you every bit as much as we will here in this little corner of the world where we shared words.

A stunning and resonant message showing both how spirituality can rightly can consume you and yet how religion seeks to box people in. I can relate to that, that is the story of Northern Ireland and so many other places. But what really makes this poem brilliant is the rhythmrelentless, rhythmic, powerfulthis poem is a masterpiece.

When the mind is set free to wonder, the heart's lock let loose, and the soul to soar high, then, that empty spot of which you speak of here, penned so beautifully, is filled.
We, as human beings have been over burdened by "denominations", no matter the religion we follow. In my opinion, the faith is one because it comes from The One.

"just be prepared"....

is there any way to truly conceive of how different life will be..?
I always say...when you get saved...and spirit filled ...even the cat and dog see the difference !

"Well, from one who's felt the hand of God
and seen the glory in His name
If you receive the Holy Ghostyou will never be the same."

This lolled along like a peaceful calm river ....with a promise of life ...as it was ment to be !
it just dosn't get better than that !!

Blessssssssss

Beautiful! This is indeed a wonderful piece.

"There was no mystery or confusion
no "denominations" way back then
If you wanted God come morning
you'd be filled by long-day's end."

I love this stanza. It seems many have
become so wrapped up in the "denomination"
aspect, they have forgotten whence they came.
It's truly about a personal relationship with God,
His word and faith. Everything else is in vain.

Very well expressed and written! Thank you for sharing this :)

I don't think you realize the strength and power of your own heart, D. He took your dear hand, poised the pen and graced the page with such purity of truth . . . a calling so irresistable as to bend even the stiffest knees. You are such an inspiration to me, mon ami. You still hold that seat, ya?

Love,
j

Aw, Dale! You are such a deep, spiritual leader. I always find peace and hope and love in your words. You are one of those whose connection to the Creator is strong and vibrant. You choose to share that and we are better off for knowing you.
