Your heart's own destiny

Your heart's own destiny

A Poem by Akleja

It's the boy with the smile.
A smile different from anything you've seen.
A smile shown off with grace and style,
but still it's bittersweet like a tangerine.

If you in his voice have heard,
the echoes of your own,
even when the words have been slurred,
they will be the greatest you've ever known.

He has a touch so tender,
felt no matter the distance apart.
A simple gesture with so much splendor,
that completely stirs up the longing from the heart.

When you can feel that closeness,
as if you're put together with glue,
you'll find yourself waiting in stress,
until the day he says I do.

Maybe he has you filled with wonder,
with thoughts about how two lives can blend.
About how to live life without going under,
or about who's really your friend.

The answer to every question,
are among very simple things.
It's nowhere near a confession,
nor a speech like Martin Luther King's.

Everything you have to do is believe,
and avoid to be in doubt.
If you live your life in fear of the day you'll see him leave,
you'll most likely end up alone with a pout.

If you believe in the language love can translate,
and in how you're simply meant to be.
Then he may be your soulmate,
your heart's own destiny.

Dear Akleja

I got this in one take.

Even though I read it several times before this commentary and grasped more each time, it is an easily accessible piece and none the less worthy for it.

Sometimes we complicate the world with too many vague words and sentiments.

Not so here. There is the beauty of simplicity in the words of this poetic prose.

This is the purity of love and attraction.

Sharing. The way it should be.

This is knowledge that within love, lies vulnerability. You have given your heart to someone.

In them you must believe.

To make it work, you must offer all of yourself. Doubts you may consider, but if in building a relationship you let them rule, the relationship will be destroyed by constant query.

The sorrow of life, and I know all about it, is that some relationships do not finally work.

Questions become clear as our partners behave and we react.

Sometimes I have been told, open conflict at the outset is a good way of starting as either you will sort out your issues early on, or you will let them fester not discussed and in the end fail.

It is an uneasy balance.

All I recommend in your love life as in your accomplished writing (as here) is take risks. If you don't you, we will never find out anything about anything.

Life is one long experiment. In the end the more we know the more we realise we know nothing at all. That thought should keep us all enquiring.

Go get out your dictionary and your chemistry set. Try new things. Make them up.

Be an alchemist and change the mud of life into gold.

With my kindest regards

James

though im not a huge fan of some of the rhetorical devices used in this piece i do have to admit that everything just falls into place into a pace that just keeps the flow going, only being interrupted by some words that seem to be out of place in the rest of the stanzas, but that is only a criticism on me and my assumption rather than a criticism on your work. My opinion is irrelevant when presented an obvious quality piece.
