Speak

there is a book titled Speak thats where I got the idea for this poem its a really good book you should read it.

I feel my heart beat

my blood freeze

I stand there pale

I want to scream......

but I don't I just stand there mute and bite my lips

 

I look in the mirror

my lips bleed

say something, say anything

I open my mouth

but nothing comes out, so I just keep quiet

 

My lips are stitched closed

A tear slids down my cheek

I want to tell,I want to speak

 

As my predators lurk

with suspicious smirks

I can't hold it in anymore

 

I go outside

I scream,I shout!

I let all my anger and saddness out

then I turn around and go back through the door

Where I am silent, left mute once more........

Not too shabby, leaves a lot to the imagination to fill in. I'd like to see it have more context within the piece rather than relying on abstraction of the audience to fill in their own meaning. It's a delicate balance, poetry, telling a story without telling it fully and finding that middle ground between literal and metaphorical.
