Young Sunflower

Young Sunflower

A Poem by Alice Poésy
"

Heart Anatomy Poetry #1 //when adulthood meets childhood

"
I still remember you young,
filling tap water into your glass,
watering the orchids in the living room.

That day your gran taught you,
about over-watering your plants,
and under-watering too;

While Elvis's LP played on the record player,
his voice singing about the bellhop's tears,
and the desk clerk dressed in black.

Last night I saw you in a shop window,
looking as if you spilt too much colour
and you had over-watered your plants anew.

In the corner of lonely street,
the building stood and blinked,
down in Heartbreak Hotel we meet.

Priceless!!!

First of all your presentation was superb... This somehow reaches deep down into the core of heart... It feels like someone is pondering upon her past memories of love and the highs and lows she witnessed with it... And by saying "when adulthood meets childhood" this truly enlightened the whole concept... Such an inspiring work...

Sincerely
Dhiman

Oh my goodness... my heart melted reading this. I hear just such an old soul reciting it. It is such a piece, and I am so in love with it. The connection between you and the one that, i feel, has wandered down a difficult path. I see such romance, pain, potential in that person. Just wow

This is a very smoothly flowing piece with a sense of memories being brought back to one's mind eye. The style also reminds me of some of my older writings...I use to change my style in writing every now and then...I don't keep the old ones here but some still in the depths of my mind and a book shelf. Very lovely piece. I enjoyed reading.

Sometimes we do too much; other times, too little. Life has a way to survive though.

Great poetry.

Exactly! Life is a strange thing.

Thank you for your words and for stopping by!
These are the thoughts we find ourselves thinking of all of a sudden out of nowhere, where something brings back memories that you forgot were so crystal clear, until rethought and leave you in peaceful contemplation of who you now are and who you were back then. I often wonder if young me would approve of all the decisions I have taken for him that leads us to the now me. After reading this wonderful piece, I am left missing the younger me. I wonder if he misses me too :)

You gave this a fifties feel making me think you were older. I hear there's lots of time to spend on lonely street. I've been down that way. Sunflowers are often discovered to be for someone else there though.

Loved the poem. What you talk about has a nostalgic feeling.
The simple things people do can be most memorable.

The mention of Elvis was great, it really creates the classic vibe.
And the last stanza was amazing!

There is something about love or there was something about love, which is missing these days. There was something about the days, when our granny guided us through the way of life. There is a reflection of yours here, watering plants, and there is you. Grown up and waiting to be loved. When you see him, the Elvis start singing again, Heartbreak Hotel.

I don't know if I am wrong or right. However, your poem is very beautiful and I imagined you, looking down from the window to that man.
