Recovery or Relapse

Recovery or Relapse

A Poem by Alison Harmer

Within my mind

Constant battles are fought

A tug of war

A line between light and dark

It takes a toll

Who will win?

I cannot break

Small steps I take

Recovery or relapse?

I can’t afford to lose

If I give in

My demons will win

Reaching out

 For help I cry

Desperately waiting

Do I give up and die?

The cold steel

Slowly digs in

Leaving harsh lines

Lines that define

The sweet release

Pain awakens…

My weakness.

My addiction.

Powerful, and the reader really gets to feel the struggle and pain of the battle. well done, great piece. I CHALLENGE YOU, to STAY STRONG and NEVER GIVE UP or loose HOPE. Many of my poems reflect these same struggles. My brief bio is here >>> http://youtu.be/eEBWjiBrSE8?list=UUAfyVGtlFnB9uSkREKl-w4Q

and my Google+ and YouTube channel are the same name "Don't just B, but B amazing!" there are a lot of helpful resources and tips there. Plus you can see how I turned my Dope Story into a Hope Story.
Great poem, I feel your pain, keep writing. Merry Christmas.
