Missing You

the answer to the question remains

untouched

forgotten,

rolled inside some distant and faded memory

layers upon layers fill in.

fragments and pieces that no longer fit

or make any semblance of sense,

scattered now like ashes in the wind

blowing away to some other dimension

one that was happier

one that was free,

back when life had purpose

back when there was you and me...

to me the question that is unanswered is "what if"?

i've experienced this...there was a "you and me" a few times in my life...and there seemed such a purpose, but it got lost...then came another purpose, a bit of sense and then eventually...another unanswered question.
