Are We?

Are We?

A Poem by Alisa Js

how many times do we throw ourselves inside
squeezing beside what we know isn't right
all in an effort to please, only to bring this travail
dismembering the last refrain
under trees that no longer exist
fading in memories
no one dares to forget

are we not worthy?
for that matter
why always another
before.
in front of,
regardless
mirrors don't lie, they only peek

this path has no rock solid promise
filled full of salty tears
littered with self serving cries
butchered in time
on a very cold night
when you think no one hears

I think I may have missed that demo
while batting at butterflies
drifting away

I will choose... now
right here,
this moment

for I can no longer stand the rain
bursting.
can't stomach this head~mush
blades plunge too deep
besides,
red isn't the tinge that I crave...

i think we will be heard!

"who'll stop the rain?" (ccr)

no one...we stop it ourselves by raining words on pages filled with torment...
but we capture each moment of it...and even though they might seem self-serving

maybe the diatribes are our only way to attack what gives us such pain.

and maybe the trees will grow again.
