The Question Remains the Same ( revised)

The Question Remains the Same ( revised)

A Poem by Alisa Js

how can we have anything of substance
how can we think we'll ever be?
walking away, I left that part
bearing the fate of each unbalanced wheel
unspoken commitments
restrained
the promise of those two hearts
through laughter and pain

one was a champion, the other a doe
running each time love came close

you knew me when disaster was my middle name
scatterbrained haze,
spanning fields far and wide

now, we have nothing to hide...

:: wow... i'm startled by this piece, dear alisa... :: i think that i relate to it a lot... :: for me, though, the mystery remains... a lot is left to uncover... and the innocence sparkles more with familiarity... (i experience less and less of contempt with time)... :: the rough edges become less rough and more graceful... :: one sort of starts with hip-hop maybe and then cruises towards a waltz... :: but what do i know...? :: maybe it's not the same for the other side... maybe there's nothing but contempt... and it wears a mask made of an eerie silence... (one that has crushed me more than i care to admit)... :: your poem is going to linger in my psyche for a long, long time...
