Little Girl Blue

Little Girl Blue

A Poem by Alisa Js

somewhere in the echoes of a distant lullaby
next to a father's lonely heart cry
a baby smiles

a mother leaves

what was I to do
little girl blue left behind
making her way as best she could
stomping across splattered sunshine
trembling inside, tears not dry

whispers followed as seasons blew fast
slimy sneers from low life hounds
howling quick as she walked near
snap!
wicked glares bared and pushed her down

ignorant ticks
votes taken among the numb.
laughter sprang
as memories burned
threats projected
all around that different girl

unseen shackles continued to bind
this mind, for years and maybe months
left me
on the outer rim
watching days slide by
beyond my grasp
to mend these broken parts ...

Alisa, Hi. As your story unfolds and quickens a bit, the way you are using so many images that may SEEM randomly arranged but fall together at the right angle...and speed. You have, sprinkled through the piece, many phrases that catch the eye, helping to focus on every part of this honest and at the same time electrifying buzz......you bring the reader to the end, very calming. This piece is more than solid, it has a way of getting reader's attention and then never letting go, or something. Nice writing, Alisa. take care...dan

Aloha Dan,

Thank you for your time and comments.

"unseen shackles continued to bind
this mind" - the hardest chains to divest oneself of are the ones that we fashion ourselves from the raw materials supplied by society. They are the hardest to throw off but if we are successful they are the greatest release of all.
Deeply moving words Alisa -
