Mythopoeic

Mythopoeic

A Poem by Alisa Js

when was the last time we dismissed forever?
candy cane kisses and rides on the moon
laughter till daylight
smiles past high noon

how can it be that we no longer believe
in the magic of possibilities,
in the pot at the end
of rainbows and unicorns
prancing in the rain,
on the upside edge of our precious wish

the one we both knew
would most definitely come true
if we only conceived and believed.

exactly when did that digress into
depression and tears,
stuck somewhere in neutral
preying on unfounded fears

this can't be,
never gonna happen
it's too hard,
no hope for the future
no plan for the rest
of our miserable life,
just lay down and die

when did that become the mantra
of so many sad souls,
who let hope go with open hands,
lamenting

nothing to see here,
life is too cold ...

Hi
This is the strongest part I feel with the greatest contrast. Sad, but a good write. "when did that become the mantra
of so many sad souls,
who let hope go with open hands,
lamenting"

Hello again,

Yes, I wonder sometimes where does the magic float off to???

Consumerism and materialism eat away at the magic of life like the creeping ember of a curling, burning page - children have a very small window of childhood now and we are all being blinded in the age of 'Me'.
A lament that reaches right into the reader - connecting with their source of awe and wonder like a soul defibrillator.
This is where the magic has gone - where it always was - in the pens and hearts of poets like you Alisa.

~ wow... i've been thinking about what makes cynical people cynical... especially in the context of my own story these days... ~ more importantly, this is a beautiful piece... and i agree entirely... people have no idea about the power of an ideal thought... such as the thought of forever and all else that you so poetically articulate... and i loved the title... am not into tolkein but the title gave me a reason to look it up on wiki... :)
