Stepping Stones

Stepping Stones

A Poem by Laz K.

“No sadness is greater than in misery to rehearse memories of joy.”
~
Dante Alighieri

Long ago, I beheld their lovely faces

Made of delicate cherry blossoms,

Dressed in pink for the much awaited

Birth of spring to adorn the naked,

Loveless branches of my gnarly life

Black as coals, black as sin, or as death.

Carved into the granite of my memory

I see them yet, now lying at my feet like

Silent, ageless death masks, paving my path

Like stepping stones in the red pools

Strewn across the maze of my heart.

Wonderful poetic expression here Laz. It can be a painful search to find love, but always worth the taking. Visually delicate and quite lovely.

This is stunning! The visuals and tone completely consumes the reader and leaves then in awe Laz...delicate and intricately poignant :) So very beautiful, really made me reflect...

I agree with Jacob on this, wonderfully written and said

such a visual writing about the pain of love and how we screw it up, and cause those branches to become
so gnarly we fall out of the tree.
