Charade

Charade

A Poem by Avocations of Amber

I saw you sitting there that day in your chair of canary yellow

You crossed your leg over your knee

in eventual complacency

With tired eyes so mellow

Your hollow look rebels the truth you hide inside so well

With forearms crossed about your chest

There is this mask, but I know the rest

You kiss and never tell

I watched you drive away today, like a knight upon his steed

You veiled your eyes with darkened shades

To hide the real you, to evade

To look but never see

Reveal yourself, oh Charlemagne, your ways have been dissolved

You pantomime instead of speak

Just tell me what it is you seek

Let fate help you evolve

What a great write, it speaks volumes if only in pantomime.
This could be said for many people who hide behind a mask...

A beautiful painting and I like the description in the poem. To me. Painting is poetry for the eyes. Great description gave life to the painting. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

Such a moving write that carried me with word plays and intriguing philosophy. This really is an intricate write, delving into what is real and what is only living on the surface... Excellent!
