Wake Up

Wake Up

A Poem by amenimity
"

original poem by Kansas City writer Joni Wilson

"

Choose yourself

Or loose your soul

Choose what you love

Or loose what you know

If only it were true

If only it could be

That I could be that girl

In all of my dreams

It's all about ugly and appealing

Fat and thin

Touching and feeling

Loosing to win

The world has a soul and a strong sense of humor

I'm a princess, I'm a queen

I died somewhere in between

Where's my talent that's my wage

Silent stage I'm out of place

It's all about wrong and right

Black and white

Short and long

Dark and light

The world has a pulse and a point of view

I thought I could cure myself from freezing rain

But even after trying

I'm still the same

All the beauty I've seen in this life

Means nothing without a face

Means nothing without love

Love is a strong and hurtful sting

It's all about love and hate

Hips and eyes

Life and fate

Truth and lies

The world is still listening to the silence of pride

Nothing is pure

Freedom has died

We want with our eyes

Our souls are unsure

There's no sense to innocence

And no reason with why

There is no sense to logic

And logic is prime

After all, the world is nothing but black decay

Live to make money is the only way

It’s all about image and money

Parties and drinking

Sugar and honey

Analyzing and thinking

The world is waiting for us to find our true home
