A Poem by anaisbelieve

could you have been above
under the stairs braiding
hope and leaves and other
twisting things. tight as a knot
my heart lines the box. will
it play music when opened
cut open, will it pour out of me
your addiction to careful planning
left no room for reality slamming
on you. could you have held your
dream higher? divide the i
the number of four caught blood
bloom rose opened velvet
horror closing over, breath held
in two hands subtracting.
could you have been above
opening gifts meant for someone
else? the wrapping cracks the
air around and leaves the laughter
stale. whisper collected tight as a knot
my heart lines the box.
