Not for Sale

Not for Sale

A Poem by Matt DeFranco

" Not For sale"

For Sale

does not feed

echelons of existence.

And power

does not maintain

purpose.

The values of

the sincere

heart

do not dispel

what hatred

starts.

And only

apart

is sometimes what keeps  one sane.

No matter how much the pain,

no matter how much you hear the name

in your head.

Or how hard you play the game

instead...

...of really  living.

Keep trying

nothing but true love is

worth dying for

no matter in what

form.

And despite every step of doubt

know this,

you can't run from the

Lord.

Oh God

" I'm promised more "

and more, and more and more.

This building

has no bottom

floor.

Push the arrow button

pointing up

not the one that spells…

Hell,

You might just find

WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR.

This piece makes me think of times when people say things like, "just think positively" or "you need to be more optimistic." Sometimes it's not that easy to make yourself think that way. I feel like the choppy, short lines of this poem really express the frustration and difficulty that some people have with thinking positively. I don't know if that was your intention, but either way, great job!

A great writer is not always so eloquent with his words, not always the best orator, not even the most profound within literacy; but one who is led by his pen through the inspiration of the heart. One.. more..
