Chemical Brooms (From the Dark-Side)

Chemical Brooms (From the Dark-Side)

A Poem by Andrew N. Farrens
"

Simply a Drew Kazinsky 'Quick-Rhyme'.....

"
The terrible and candidly honest truth
is that I fear
I will be the cause of my own Doom.
I'm a Pisces heavily influenced
by the Dark-Side of the pale Moon
and a God of the Sea,
the seemingly nebulous and mysterious Neptune.
I really try to control my cursed empathy
with drugs I'm sometime almost too afraid to consume
but I always do since unfortunately the reality of sobriety
will forever cause me to sincerely loon.
A funny thing about all this is that when I'm high, I feel like if
I never saw another pill the rest of my life, it'd be too soon
but there is nothing like an opiate to help sweep emotional garbage
under the proverbial rug with a chemical broom....

I was never attracted to pills, i remember highschool xanax+drinking = black outs = the thing to do, but I never enjoyed it.
opiate pills are very addicting, morphine, hydrocoden, vics, etc...

Its a very terrible cycle to be in, and I've seen some of my uncles even my grandma spend most of their money trying to get more, i sometimes see thats its no longer to help their physical pain but a need to feel good/happy

i like this line, the imagery,

"heavily influenced
by the Dark-Side of the pale Moon
and a God of the Sea,
the seemingly nebulous and mysterious Neptune."

A dramatic write about a tragedy. Can't help wondering if you'd display such self-judgement and broad thought it you were off drugs, crutches, whatever. Or, would your words be less illuminating yet even more sincere? Your life's yours, how you treat it is your decision and responsibility.

'but there is nothing like an opiate to help sweep emotional garbage ~ under the proverbial rug with a chemical broom.... ' and therein lies the truth.

Quite a bit of peculiar personification and mixed metaphors in here.

From what I interpreted from this, you have a description of lamentation to forgiveness, to describing an unattainable hero, inner turmoil, and finally a metaphor of a cluttered mind. Definitely went all over the place. Quite a journey. :)

The good ones always shun sobriety. They are not meant for a world full of Neanderthals.

Every Piscean I know has problems with living in this world.. they are empathic and magnets of all the worlds' woes. I guess pills would be one escape, as you've given here. Drinking to excess is another (my husband). You did a great job of describing that pain and need to get away from the world for a while.

The flow, rhymes and rhythm are awesome in this piece. This world is a bit much for Pisces, who feel the emotions of others so deeply. No matter how we try to be something else, we are sponges, with the vibes of others being infused into our beings. Sadly, most of those vibes are negative and one sometimes needs SOMETHING to cope. I wish that something could be something more positive for YOUI
