Thorns

Thorns

A Poem by AJ Douglas

I reached out to you
in defiance of my fears
contrary to my reclusive nature
Audentis fortuna iuvat
Fortune favors the bold
I've been told
My hand grasped at ghosts
phantom fantasies of friendship
only to find hope to be
but a vine thick with thorns
