If trees could talk

If trees could talk

A Poem by light and ashes

If the trees could talk, what do you think they would say?
Would they tell us of their history?
How they grew from a tiny seed?

How would they see man's history?
Would it be any different from how we see our own?
Would they excuse our greed?
Would they say that we ruined Eden to build steel castles?

What would we say to them?
What excuses would we give?
I for one would be out of words.

This is hands down one of my favorite of your poems and it inspires me to go write more nature poems of my own.
Thank you for that my love....

Thank you!
I do believe they do talk in their own way. When we listen it becomes a whole lot easier to love them and nature.

Engaging write:)

Wonderful how you used a living but inanimate object to delve into the flaw of humanity. You also packed a powerful punch in a few words which is impressive.

I have written in much fewer words than that.. If you care to read more. Thank you for your review.
Tis said that if you put an ear to the bark of an old tree, and hold the trunk for as long a*s comfortable.. you will hear it speaking.. albeit it in its own language. Truth be known, tis the movements of creatures beneath the bark. The muffled sounds, those movements, show that apart from the tree's roots set deep into the earth a form of intelligence exists. is alive. Thereby that tree needs be appreciated for what it can offer, if we care enough. .

I don’t think we would listen even if trees could talk. We don’t listen to each let alone nature.

Unfortunately “we” tend to turn a blind eye if it doesn’t benefit our lifestyle

You are completely correct. It is very unfortunate, indeed.
I would love to hear their opnions on mankind. I for one be at a loss for words.

A timely write here dear Light! We created a steel and concrete jungle by cutting the beautiful trees. I wish they could talk, scream, yell to our misdeed so as to stop this incessant crime! More and more Greta Thunberg are needed for this act.... I love this poem so much

Awesome, thank you.
I was thinking exactly same thing last night while watching the film Gladiator with Russell Crowe while the wars go on trees witness a lot of history but the thoughtfulness of trees is widely spread here and the mountainous empathy presented throughout this beautiful piece. I enjoyed this keep writing sincerely your friend in writing and life :)
