If trees could talk

If trees could talk

A Poem by light and ashes

If the trees could talk, what do you think they would say?
Would they tell us of their history?
How they grew from a tiny seed?

How would they see man's history?
Would it be any different from how we see our own?
Would they excuse our greed?
Would they say that we ruined Eden to build steel castles?

What would we say to them?
What excuses would we give?
I for one would be out of words.

I agree my friends. I liked the trees in the Lord of the rings movie. Didn't trust man and they helped to save the earth and the trees. I would apology to the trees, if I could. Nature gives us everything and men, just take and take. Outstanding poetry shared my friend.

I agree with coyote of course.
This has a deep underlying meaning and I love how it also made me question everything too. I would love to see more of your writing :))

Awesome, you are free to check out the rest of my work. I hope you enjoy it.
Yes! What exactly would be said? Given our treatment of them I am sure there would be an awkward silence for an extended period of time. In their own way, they do talk to us with the rustling of their leaves but quite often we are too preoccupied to listen. Such an interesting question you have asked here, light, and your conclusion could well be the correct response. A fine piece to ponder!🌹

Thank you, Victoria! I appreciate you stopping by and reviewing.
What an interesting conversation that would turn out to be light and ashes. Now trees can live for hundreds of years. There is one on a small island in the Thames we visit when we go boating. Five times the width of my outstretched arms. Yes I embrace it like an old friend. I would imagine trees would find us to be very foolish and shallow. I hold them in the highest esteem.
