Spenserian Racy ProposalA Poem by Annette Jay SweeneyvroomBeer bellied fans surround a circle filled with grass and the occasionally super drunk. Cars slip and slide around as if spilled across a rotating swing. Ads that are funky cry out to eager spectators as if through TV. Crashes are what they really crave, spunky drivers getting too carried away. She swats away his doting hand, busy bee leave me alone in the stands. He grabs her as the green flag is waved, gets on his knees, and finally wins her attention for just a brief glimpse, a shining ring appears a camera catches the moment, the crowd cheers. © 2010 Annette Jay SweeneyAuthor's Note
